The first must see attraction is the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway located at 1 Tramway Road, Palm Springs, CA 92262. The tram ride up the mountain offers beautiful views of the Mount San Jacinto State Park as the tram rotates 360 degrees all the way to the summit. This is a great destination in the fall as well as during the month of August because the temperature is usually thirty degrees cooler on top of the summit allowing guests to hike the 54 miles of trails the park has to offer. After hiking relax 8,500 feet above the dessert in one of the three delicious restaurants.
If the weather outside is too hot and muggy for sightseeing, head on over to the Palm Springs Swim Center located at 405 S. Pavilion Way, Palm Springs, CA 92262, for open swim. Inside the center is an Olympic sized pool with diving boards, which offer a great cheap way to cool off.
Another great activity to visit while in Palm Springs is the VillageFest. Venture over to Palm Canyon Drive between Baristo and Amado in Downtown Palm Springs, CA on a Thursday night to see what this Fest has to offer. Amongst the blocked off streets there will be an old fashioned street fair with great food and drinks, where many laid back visitors will dine. While dining catch one of the many shows put on by musicians, or street performers. There are also many booths and tables to shop at, some of which include photography, artwork, jewelry, and clothing.
Starting in November, experience the show “Hot! Hot! Hot!” preformed by The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies. This show offers great entertainment that has been likened to the stages of Broadway. It will feature comedy, music, singing as well as dancing all executed by entertainers ranging from age 58-82.
Remember if the temperatures of Palm Springs, California interfere with sightseeing you always have a few “cooler” options!
